Historically, if you are a general practitioner starting your own practice, it would be extremely tedious for you to source your own pharmaceutical needs. 

Many pharmaceutical manufacturers would encourage you to buy as much as possible by offering discounts for bulk purchases. In reality, these bulk purchases would tie your money down in the form of stocks which would then make it difficult for you to pay your suppliers on time.

To help general practitioners, we founded Mayflax as the first Group Purchasing Organisation in the private sector for Malaysia. We would buy in bulk from all the pharmaceutical manufacturers and will pass on any savings to you. By dealing with us, you will be able to enjoy a large selection of pharmaceutical products at affordable prices.

Leadership Team

Mayflax was founded in 1994 with the vision of supplying quality pharmaceutical products at affordable prices.

Here are some of the key people who have played an instrumental role to make that a reality

Dato’ Khurshid Mohamed

Chief Executive Officer

Dato’ Khurshid is an entrepreneur and founded Mayflax with the vision of improving the healthcare system in Malaysia. He noticed that healthcare professionals had difficulties sourcing for their own medication and founded Mayflax to become a one-stop centre for all their pharmaceutical needs. He is passionate about introducing innovative technologies and methods that can benefit the public in Malaysia.

He sets the strategy and vision of the company and always seeks to build meaningful relationships internally and externally. He has accumulated 26 years of experience in the healthcare industry and has been leading Mayflax as its Chief Executive Officer since being founded in 1994.

Datin Mariam Abdullah

Chief Operating Officer

Datin Mariam served as the Chief Operating Officer of Mayflax since being founded in 1994. She ensures that the warehousing, logistics and human resources department in Mayflax is operating effectively.

She is passionate about improving the efficiency of the operations in Mayflax and strives to exceed the customer’s expectations. She works closely with the team to maximize the strategic use of the company’s financial assets.

Izwan Khurshid

Chief Financial Officer

Izwan is currently tasked with transforming Mayflax into a leading healthcare provider by recruiting the best talents, introducing innovative products and building a strong relationship with their large network of healthcare partners. He looks after the finances of the company and evaluates the financial viability of any new project.

Prior to joining Mayflax, Izwan was with PwC Malaysia. During his time at PwC, he focused on performing business advisory and compliance services for companies across a wide spectrum of industries.

Izwan has earned his Chartered Accountancy from the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand. He holds a Bachelor in Economics from the University of New South Wales.

Shahbina Khurshid

Chief People Officer

Shahbina looks after the customer service and marketing department of Mayflax and always seeks to keep the customers happy and satisfied. She is passionate about increasing customer engagement by sharing information that would be beneficial to them.

Prior to joining Mayflax, she was with Reed Exhibitions where she earned the President Award, Asia Pacific for her dedication and drive in successfully marketing her clients.

She graduated with a Diploma in the Association of Business Executive UK and earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Management from Murdoch University of Australia.

Dr Nazrina Khurshid

Chief Information Officer

Dr Nazrina looks after the IT department for Mayflax and previously led large, complex technology projects and teams. Her current role looks at spearheading IT strategy, innovation, modernization and delivery for the organisation.

She is passionate to improve current operations through data transformation and technologies to mirror the Company's growth and strategic objectives.

She has earned her PhD in empirical software engineering from the University of New South Wales. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and a Bachelor of Commerce in Business Administration from Murdoch University of Australia.

Jeffrey Koh

Manager / Pharmacist

Mr Jeffrey oversees the procurement department, sets the pricing strategy and determines the product mix for Mayflax. His key objective is to ensure that the needs of our large network of healthcare professionals are met.

Prior to joining Mayflax, he had 26 years of experience with Zuellig Pharma Sdn. Bhd. where he held the position of senior manager. There, he was responsible for sales, marketing, daily operations including import, warehousing and distribution, inventory management, A/R collections, repackaging and regulatory affairs.

He graduated from the Victorian College of Pharmacy, Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.

Gordon Brown

Director of International Market

Mr Brown has served as the director of international market since 1998. He focuses on developing the South East Asian market for Mayflax.

He performs market evaluations and seeks synergistic relationships from companies within the region. His key objective is to increase the marketability of Mayflax current service offerings.

Prior to joining Mayflax, he had represented a wide variety of clients within healthcare, telecommunications and IT industries in Canada.

Md Ali bin Kassim

Chief Accountant

En Ali oversees the credit control department in Mayflax. His key objective is to ensure that the working capital management of Mayflax is optimised and self-sufficient.

Prior to joining Mayflax, he was the Chief Accountant of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS). There, he oversaw the finances of various construction development projects. He also held the position of Director for the Group of D'Palma Hotels.

He is a Certified Accountant from the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and graduated with a Bachelor of Accountancy from University Teknologi Mara Shah Alam.
